The Albertville tennis teams enjoyed road victories over Lee-Huntsville on April 2.

Albertville’s girls rolled to a 9-0 decision while the boys cruised to a 7-2 triumph.

PELL CITY — Senior players Will Siskey, Jay Penney and Trent Lynn powered the Albertville boys tennis team to a 9-0 rout of Class 6A, Section 7 opponent Pell City on Monday.

Siskey was recently named to the National Prince Hot 100 rising stars in tennis.

Albertville’s girls suffered a close 5-4 loss to the Panthers.

The Aggies’ senior girls are Courtney Moore and Mary-Catherine Mitchell.


 
 
The Douglas tennis program delivered its best performance in Marshall County Tennis Tournament history during the 2013 event Friday at the Albertville Tennis Courts.

The Eagle boys won their fourth consecutive county championship, a school record. They edged Guntersville by two points, 37-35.

Douglas’ girls came in second, the first time they’ve finished that high. Arab held off the Eagle girls 44-41.

Ian Wisener at No. 1 and Mark Miller at No. 5 won singles championships for Douglas. Wisener combined with his brother, Alex, to capture the No. 1 doubles crown.

“Ian successfully defended his singles and doubles county titles for the past four years,” said Douglas coach Stephanie Wisener.

“Will Siskey (of Albertville) gave him a run for his money, but Ian fought to get ahead and win 10-8.”
